Built in 1905 she is a veteran vessel which served the Royal Navy in Scapa Flow during WW1 and WW2
Although the hull was built using high quality materials, after a century of service some areas require urgent repair.
The Cingalee was built with a rare 'Whaleback' fore deck. She retains this original feature.
The plan is to restore Cingalee to her original 1905 layout. She will then be preserved as a unique piece of Orkney maritime heritage.
Although the initial target to save Cingalee has been reached. We are continuing to raise funds for Cingalee to enhance the standard of the restoration and ensure her long term durability.
